ORIGAMI                                                         CHIYOGAMI

We will show how people in Japan use these piece of papers:)

 1. Folding Paper

The general way to use Origami/Chiyogami is to fold it into various things. There are tons of ways to fold Origami, such as air planes, paper baloon, throwing stars and so on. However, the most famous thing that we can make from Origami is the crane. Most of Japanese have made the crane as least once in their life. This is because there is a custom that people make 1000 origami cranes when we visit somebody in the hospital, or when you have any wishes like “I wanna win the baseball game”. It is believed that people will recover from the illness or the wishes will become true if we make 1000 cranes.

Some examples of folding papers.

This is called Senba-zuru (千羽鶴), which means a thousand cranes.

 2. Arts & Crafts

We also use Origami/Chiyogami for Arts & Crafts!! Especially children in Japan do Arts & Crafts using it when they are in kindergarten or nursery. You can cut, tear, paste Origami and make your own works of art. Moreover, there are some people who are very good at using Origami for their arts and it is amazing!!!
