No Tricks, All Treats - November 2023
Imagine getting a massive Halloween haul without the work of making a costume and going door to door! Now imagine all the goodies were Japanese! That is what you get with the No Tricks, All Treats box. Almost every item is a seasonal limited type with cute thematic packaging and exciting tastes, giving that nostalgic feeling of sorting out everything you got from the tricking and treating. Don’t worry here though, this box has no tricks and all treats!
GekiMen Wonton Men from Toyosuisan
Allergens: wheat, egg, dairy, soy, pork, gelatin Cooking time: 3 minutes Flavor: shoyu Aaaaaaaaa! That was our reaction to this super cute packaging and the sound of our gaping mouths preparing to devour this wonton style ramen dish. The flavor is a light soy sauce that’s superpowered by garlic and ginger for a hearty wonton bowl that will, according to Toyo Suisan, leave you “blown away”. This is also the bowl they decided to release nationwide in Japan for their 45th anniversary, which goes to show how much confidence they have in these noodles. And after eating them, you’ll see exactly what they mean. How to cook: 1. Remove half of the lid and take out two bags. 2, Open the powder soup bag over the noodles, pour boiling water up to the indicated line, cover, and place the liquid soup on top of the lid to warm. 3, After 3 minutes, loosen the noodles well, add the another bag, stir well, and enjoy.
Gokuri Akibudo from Suntory
We’re talking red and green grapes with that signature grapefruit pulp that makes Gokuri, Gokuri. This is a new flavor that celebrates the arrival of autumn. In Japan, quality grapes have prices scarier than Halloween decorations, which makes the flavor ever sought after. This particular refresher has a 10% pure fruit juice and the taste of the grapes are of the Asian kind that you rarely find in the west, as the grape flavor there is based on another type of grapes. It’s really an experience you don’t want to miss. 🍇
Nagewa Kabocha Gratin flavor Halloween from Tohato

Fried Potato Kanbi na Cheese from Koikeya

Heavenly honey. These potato chips made with the pride of Koike-ya are so good they might send you to the next world. That salty and sweet flavor is dangerously addictive, it might convince you to come to Japan just to have another taste. Eat at your own discretion. 🍯
Pokémon Halloween Pack from Tohato

Not quite sure what tagline suits these chocolate snacks with a limited Pikachu Halloween theme, but they’re adorable and tasty either way. The choco snacks are in the shape of the iconic character, and even features a fun little Pokémon quiz on the inside of the bag. If you’re a Pokémon fan, the timing couldn’t be better with the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet game DLC releasing last month. Go catch some mon’s while... eating some noms?

From college dorms, to parents saving time for their kids' event, pizza has unintentionally become synonymous with Halloween, so much so that we got a limited Halloween pizza flavor corn snack in this month's box! It’s crispy, and cute, so give it a try.

Flavor: monster energy Oh yes, we’re talking energy bubble gum! Not only do these come with an extra boost both in taste and texture, it’s also designed to be an innocent little “batsu game” (punishment game), as one out of 3 gums got a sour core that will surprise whoever bites into it. Though depending on the preference of the eater, the sour one may be the best one!

It’s made with a “fu” which is essentially pure gluten, coated with black sugar. These are both ingredients that has kept their popularity through the ages, but beware, if you eat this snacks with no drinks nearby, you might suffocate 👻 Halloween Mashro~ from Yaokin Allergens: gelatin Processed in a facility that also processes wheat, egg, dairy, and peanuts Flavor: marshmallow Get one of three limited Halloween designs for these dagashi marshmallow rods from yaokin! The colors are also different, but the taste is the same. You can find a vampire, pumpkin or witch. Luckily you’re not a vampire (hopefully) or you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the soft fleshy treat! 🧛 Berobero Konpeito from Maruta Flavor: grape, cider, melon, or cherry By recommendation by mr. Oda Nobunaga himself! In historic documents you’ll find him praising konpeito as a luxury snack. That said, he likely (definitely) didn’t try flavored varieties like these halloween themed ones. They all have the ability to change your tongue color green, blue, purple or red. The possible flavors are cherry, ramune, melon or grape! Halloween Jelly from Saka Allergens: apple Processed in a facility that also processes dairy, wheat, and gelatin Flavor: apple Is there really a halloween party without slime? There’s something so wonderfully 90’s about slime and Jelly just happens to be the more appetizing version of that. This particular jelly stick is themed for the occasion, and has the texture of konjaku jelly, slightly firmer than jelly made with gelatin. Because it’s not made with gelatin, they can be left out in summer without melting.

Will you chomp it down or disassemble it to prolong the joy? Super Mario gum from Coris Flavor: grape It’s a’ me! Mario grape flavored gum! There are actually 5 different characters from the Mario Series you can find on the gum. Quite fitting with the all new Super Mario Bros. Wonder releasing the 10th of October!
