It’s been a while since we’ve talked a little about our ZenPop team. It’s changed a lot since the last post where we introduced ourselves, and actually, the team is now bigger, more international and fully renewed!
ZenPop started back in 2016 as a project by young ZenMarket interns, and has since grown into a dynamic subscription box company delivering Japanese surprises all over the world!
Our team is still growing, but has a total of eight members at the time of writing this.
So let’s start introducing everyone here so that you know who’s behind your favorite subscription box!
Joining the team from Singapore: Pearlin!
She’s now among the longest standing members of this team, and without a doubt the person whose work you’ve seen the most! In fact, Pearlin is behind all the international communication done in English. You might interact with her on our main English Instagram or Facebook accounts, and see her beautiful photos on our website!
She’s the photographer of the team and is doing her best at beautifully conveying how delicious and cute our snacks, stationery and ramen are. Photography is not her only hobby, though, Pearlin’s a fan of Japan’s cafés and MUJI’s relaxing atmosphere. When she’s not working on our project, that’s where you’re most likely to find her!
Next up, David, coming to you from beautiful and vibrant Latin America. He’s our Spanish speaking team member, and if you use our Spanish version, he’s the one you’re interacting with!
David’s been in Japan for a while, first in Saitama prefecture, and now working with us in Osaka to share his love for noodles and snacks. Besides eating and enjoying the pleasures of Osaka’s dining scene, David loves to interact on social media and create original and dynamic video content!
He might also occasionally binge-watch some of the most popular animes of the moment to find inspiration for your anime packs!
Amy’s from Osaka and joined the team last year. Her specialty? Finding the best products available for you! There is an endless amount of suppliers of all kinds in Japan, and she’s toughing it out to make sure we can secure the best items for your boxes!
Music fan and concert lover, Amy also enjoys herself behind a hot plate and prepares some of the most original and delicious meals you can currently imagine. Miso soup with homemade dashi? Yes please!
Flying over all the way from Yekaterinburg, Margo is our Russian team member, and together with Yin Chi, joined our team in summer 2021. With plenty of experience in her bag, she came to assist the team lead ZenPop through new challenges.
But when she’s not working, Margo loves to practice some of the most beautiful game OSTs on her piano, or just dive right in herself with a night of solo campaign! She also loves frogs. A lot.
Already in Japan for a while, Hong Kong born Yin Chi is sending treats all over Taiwan and her hometown.
She loves relaxing morning walks when the sun starts shining over Osaka’s most beautiful parks, and loves to go out for a potluck dinner with her friends. Where Margo has a lot of love for frogs, Yin Chi is all in for the penguins. Whether it’s an Emperor Penguin, King Penguin, Little Penguin or even Macaroni Penguin (I swear, they exist), she’s a fan!
Joining us as an intern to practice her design skills and learn about product purchasing, Momoka is a bright young student that will become a full-time member of the team after her graduation this April.
We’re looking forward to having her fresh set of eyes with ZenPop and her original new product ideas! She’s been helping Amy navigating the endless amount of products available out there, and with a thought for balance and design, making sure our packs get some unique themes!
Besides her studies and work, Momoka loves some good anime and amusement parks like the fantastic Universal Studios Japan we have in Osaka!
Olena works with us part-time and lives in her home country of Ukraine. You may have interacted with her if you’ve reached out to customer support. She answers your emails in English, Russian and Ukrainian!
She’s a fan of all things Japan, and will do her best to help solve all your shipping issues!
Finally, Tobias, that’s me. You’ve probably interacted with me through our customer service email, or read my blog articles on our blog, in English or French. I’ve been living in Osaka for a little over three years now, and this place has become a second home for me.
At ZenPop, I help navigate through international shipping challenges, and handle all our communication in French. When not in the office, I like to work out, read, write, and explore the beauty of Japan.
