ZenPop Sweet Pack - Gummy Land DIY Instructions

If you have dipped your toes into the world of Japanese snacks, I'm sure you've come across DIY kits. Miniature versions of popular foods and sweets that you make yourself. These treats are sold in supermarkets (at child eye level) all over Japan, and they have become popular on the internet for many reasons. They're cute, weird, and unique, so it reinforces those parts of the Japanese image. Plus there is this cool kind of mad scientest vibe that happens when you are making tiny snacks out of powder and water. As you may imagine, the journey is a little more satisfying than the the destination. The end products taste surprisingly like the real thing, but I don't know anyone who would call them delicious. The Japanese takoyaki (octopus balls), or mini hamburgers and french fries kits taste just like those things! The sweet ones can be tasty, but really it's all about having fun making them.

We have included a few DIY kits in our Sweets Packs. Our first box had 2! Our current pack (January 2017) includes a DIY kit to make your own gummy candies. You fill up a container with special powder, insert a mold, and add colored flavor juice which, when mixing with the pwder, turns into a gummy candy. You can be creative with flavors and colors.
